STEAM Day at the University of Delaware

STEAM Day is an event where students from a local Delaware middle school visit the University of Delaware (UD) campus to learn about different scientific fields and research. This location provides students the unique opportunity to tour active laboratories and learn about research being conducted at an R1 academic institution.

During the event, exhibits will be set up to provide interactive learning experiences on a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) topics. These stations are designed with input from the teacher of the visiting class(es), and typically include topics such as: Strawberry DNA Isolation, Micropipette Art, Water Tension, and The Anatomy of the Brain. There are also microscopes for students to compare various cell types from animals, insects, plants, and bacteria.  We also collaborates with other outreach organizations in the Delaware area to host their own exhibits at the event in order to encompass a wider variety of STEAM fields.
